Explore Tanzania's Community Development Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering in Tanzania offers an
opportunity to immerse yourself in this East African gem while making a meaningful
impact. From the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro to the vast savannas of the Serengeti,
Tanzania is a top tourism destination, but is still challenged by extreme poverty. Whether
you're passionate about gender equality, animal welfare, community development, or
teaching, there are numerous volunteer programs available, allowing you to experience
a unique blend of adventure and humanitarian work. Join us in this extraordinary journey
to explore Tanzania.
The word “Fursa” means “possibility” in Swahili and that is exactly what we wish to accomplish with these volunteer projects – to create possibilities for communities and individuals to work abroad for a cause and grow and help create a better future.
Volunteering abroad, in Tanzania, can be a challenge, especially since today there are hundreds
of volunteer organizations out there and it’s hard to know which one is the right one. Fursa
Projects emerged from a pursuit to inspire and support community development ethically, and
over the long term. Having seen the bad effects of “voluntourism” many of the volunteering
programs create, we wished to find more sustainable projects and causes, where the impacts
will last and, not be forgotten by the next arriving volunteers. We wish to create programs
specifically for volunteers or students with the appropriate skills and motivations.

I worked at the day
care among very
little kids, and it has
been an incredible
experience! First
because we had the warmest welcome
from the kids and
the crew over there,
also because it has
been a real
exchange. We all
learned from each
other and we
worked together in
the same direction
